Rontar is an adtech company specializing in performance marketing for E-commerce and other types of businesses aiming to increase their number of leads and sales.
But Rontar didn’t always specialize in performance marketing. In 2009, we operated a group of marketplaces helping E-commerce businesses sell their products. One of our customers wanted to place a banner on our websites and implement some comprehensive targeting (geo, gender, age, etc). We started looking for an ad server that would be able to do it but couldn’t find one that would satisfy all our requirements.
As it often happens, the demand for a better system led us to the ideas that created that better system!
Back in 2009, there was a variety of ad servers on the market. Many were too simple and just didn't meet our requirements, while others were too expensive or difficult to use.
So, we decided to work on creating a new and powerful ad server – one that would have all the necessary features, but still be easy to use. We also thought there should be a way to offer a version for free.
Jump forward one and a half years to 2011 and the first version of Rontar was released. At that time, the features were still basic, but we did indeed offer ways to use it for free.
Later that year, we released a second version with new features for website owners and advertisers added to the system.
In March 2012, we proudly released a completely redesigned, more powerful new version of the Rontar ad server solution with a totally redeveloped user interface and new integrated features that made creating and managing your ad campaigns easier than ever before.
In 2013, Rontar entered the RTB market, launching its own SSP in order to help websites monetize their remnant inventory.
At the start of 2014, Rontar DSP was launched, offering customers 2 major products: Retargeting (incl. dynamic) and Maximum Coverage. At almost the same time, DMP was launched to manage users' data. This meant Rontar now had a complete range of technologies for online advertising, from AdServer to DSP.
In 2016, we finally decided to focus all our efforts on retargeting products. In June 2016, we created a Shopify app that let Shopify customers start a retargeting campaign with just a few clicks. This was a turning point year in the history of our company.
In 2018, we kept working on our retargeting algorithm, doing our best to provide the best possible results for our customers. We also created integrations with most E-commerce platforms like Magento, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, etc.
In 2019, we decided to completely rethink the idea of retargeting and advertising in general. We found out that most small and medium businesses are not ready to use our services on the “pay-as-you-go” basis. This compelled us to create pricing plans. We did leave the pay-as-you-go plan (it’s now called Business), but we also created another two. The first plan is called Starter and it is aimed at growing businesses. We also created a Free Forever plan. Yes, that’s not a mistake! Currently, Rontar is the only retargeting company in the market that has a Free Forever plan for retargeting.
Today we have three main products: dynamic retargeting, drip retargeting, and blog retargeting. More than 1,200 customers from all around the world run their retargeting campaigns with us.
